What is lip filler?

A smooth hyaluronic acid gel placed in the lip body or border to add shape, definition and hydration. The product is matched to your tissue and goal at the consultation; hyaluronic acid is reversible with hyaluronidase.

Dr. Toma's approach is restraint: enhancing proportion and smile balance rather than adding size. As a dentist she reads the lips as part of the smile: the arc of the upper lip, how much tooth shows at rest, and how the lower lip meets the chin.

On-labelFDA-approved lip fillers include Restylane Kysse (2020, adults over 21), Juvéderm Volbella XC (2016), Revanesse Lips+ (22 and older) and RHA 3 (22 and older). Each label sets its own age limit and approved area. Verified Oct 2026.

Is $400 good for lip filler, and what does a syringe cost?

A dollar amount means little without the product and the volume. One syringe is usually 1 mL, so half a syringe is 0.5 mL; check the label of the syringe in the room, because volumes can differ by brand. We do not publish a per-syringe price on this page. Your written quote names the product, the milliliters, the minimum fee and the dates that fee is in effect, before anything is placed.

Two syringes is more product than the half-to-one-syringe start used for most first plans. National price surveys vary widely and are not our fees.

Lip flip or lip filler?

A lip flip uses a few units of botulinum toxin in the upper lip so it rolls slightly outward. It adds no volume, it is off-label, and it typically lasts 6 to 8 weeks. Lip filler adds shape and hydration and is approved for the lips only for the products listed above. Choose by what you want to change: gum show suggests a flip, volume or definition suggests filler.

When do I need a lip lift instead of filler?

Filler cannot change bone, your bite or the true length of the philtrum. If the upper lip is long and shows little tooth at rest, adding gel can make it heavier and hide more tooth. A surgical lip lift shortens the skin under the nose; that is a surgical question, not an injectable one, and we will say so.

Who it is for

A good fit if
  • You want shape and hydration, not size
  • You are over 21 (22 for some products)
  • You can return for the two-week review
Not for you if
  • Pregnant or breastfeeding (safety is not established)
  • Active cold sore or infection
  • Dental work in the last two weeks (please reschedule)
What it can't do
  • Change bone structure or bite
  • Replace a surgical lip lift
  • Hold if the lip is overfilled

How much does lip filler cost in Naples?

Your written quote is shared at the consultation and depends on the product and amount in your plan, stated as a minimum fee with the dates it is in effect. Numbing and the two-week review are part of the plan. Dissolving, if ever needed, is quoted separately.

Prices are confirmed at consultation and stated with their effective dates. Any offer carries its start and end dates. How pricing works.

Risks and side effects

Common: swelling, tenderness and bruising for up to a week; small lumps that settle. Uncommon: asymmetry addressed at review, delayed nodules. Rare but serious: hyaluronic acid filler labeling warns that injection into a blood vessel can cause vascular occlusion, with vision impairment, blindness, stroke or skin necrosis. Blanching, severe pain or a change in vision needs emergency care at once.

Full informed consent is reviewed before treatment. Tell us about cold sores (we can plan around them), blood thinners and any previous permanent fillers.

Questions about lip filler

Most first visits use half to one syringe. Precision matters more than volume: we start conservative and review the result at two weeks.

A dollar amount cannot be judged without the product and the volume. We do not publish a per-syringe price; your written quote names the product, the milliliters, the minimum fee and the dates it is in effect, so you can compare like with like.

One syringe is usually 1 mL, so 0.5 mL is half a syringe. Most first plans here use half to one syringe, and the two-week review checks border, symmetry and tooth show before more gel is added.

Day 0 to 1 swelling and some asymmetry; days 2 to 3 peak; days 4 to 7 settling; week 2 final shape. Bruising, if any, fades within a week.

A lip flip uses a few units of neurotoxin to roll the upper lip outward; it adds no volume, it is off-label, and it typically lasts 6 to 8 weeks. Filler adds shape and hydration for about 9 to 12 months.

Yes. Hyaluronic acid fillers dissolve with hyaluronidase, usually in one or two sessions.

It is a labeled risk, though rare. Hyaluronic acid filler labeling warns that injection into a blood vessel can cause vascular occlusion, including vision impairment, blindness, stroke or skin necrosis. Blanching, severe pain or any vision change needs emergency care at once.
